Brunch Carlington Community Connection

October 3rd 8a.m to 12 pm. 1465 Caldwell Unit 102 Ottawa

Your Knights of Columbus is organizing, on October 3rd from 8 a.m. to 12 pm, brunch to
feed those who reside on Caldwell Avenue supported by the Carlington Community
Connection (Chaplaincy). To do so we need the support of the parish. These people
experience food insecurity on a regular basis and the meal we provide will not only
provide a nutritious meal but restore their dignity and faith in humanity.  The story of
the Loaves and Fishes is not only an act of faith, but a message that sharing what we
have as a community goes a long way.  Your Knights need your help to provide them with a
healthy and full meal.   A menu will be placed in the narthex, and we need volunteers to
sign up to prepare the food and if possible, help with the delivery and perhaps serving
the food.  We are looking at feeding 110 people.

The menu is as follows:
Muffins,
Danish,
Pastries
Navel Oranges and Maroc’s.
Sliced Tomatoes
Tetra Juices
Hard Boiled Eggs.
Falafel wraps veggies- tomato, cuke, protein
•  Pita bread, flatbread (like shrak), or a flour tortilla.

Small storage containers to allow people to take leftovers.

Any other possible suggestions. For religious/cultural reasons we are avoiding pork
products.

The story of the loaves and fishes was a miracle in sharing what we have. This will be
our miracle.

Special Olympics Cheque Presentation - August 2026

On August 8th, your Knights of Columbus presented a cheque totaling five hundred dollars to the Special Olympics. The Columbus Club Charitable Foundation topped up the monies collected from the original bottle drive. It is not only police, but also correctional services (adult and youth) that support the Special Olympics. Present with the Knights and Father Adolphus were Rob McLaurin and Vanessa Scott from the Ontario Ministry of the  Solicitor General Correctional Ceremonial Unit who participated in this presentation. A sincere thanks to the members of the parish who supported this drive.

Winter Clothing Donations - Thank You!

Thank You!

On behalf of the Knights of Columbus St. Basils Jubilee Council #18772 we again wish to express our heartfelt appreciation for the support of the parish to make our coats drive for those released from courthouse cellblock a success!

Sgt. Denis McKinnon, pictured with members of the Knights was overwhelmed by the generosity we have shown to those who are released from court. He also advised that anything they do not need will be donated to other charities. In addition, he hopes to stop by in person for a parish event to thank the community for our generosity.

A special thanks to Aaron Ludmer for developing our graphics; our custodian Ibrahim who assisted us with moving items when needed and assisted with the delivery. A thanks to my brother Knights and most importantly heartfelt thanks to St. Basil’s parish community. Without your support this project would not be possible! THANK YOU!
